Our Enemy
1) He’s not God. 2) He doesn’t share all of God’s attributes. 3) He’s very powerful 4) He an observer of human history 5) Be careful not to make too much of him or too little of him.
What does a spiritual attack feel like?
1) Feelings of and fatigue 2) Feelings of defeat and depression
Attacks will always be at the point of being tempted to live outside of the gifts that God has given you in Christ Jesus.
What are the schemes of the Enemy?
- Feeling Doubtful? He’ll minimize God’s Word.
- Feeling Empty? He’ll minimize God’s goodness.
- Feeling Tempted? He’ll minimize Christ’s abundance.
- Feeling Guilty? He’ll minimize Christ’s mercy.
HOW DO WE FIGHT THE BATTLES?
1) Fighting for us is actually standing
2) We stand on the power of God’s Word declared.
Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. So my heart rejoices, and I praise Him with song.
1 John 5:4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Samuel 22:2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; the God of my strength, in Him I will trust, my shield, my stronghold and my refuge. My Savior, it is You who saves me.
3) We stand in the power of God’s might in prayer.
