About

Highland Kids is an exciting place for children (Kindergarten - 6th Grade) to come and learn about God. Our goal is to give children many opportunities to explore God’s Word that they may see God and know His plan and purpose for their lives. Whether it is through our creative and meaningful lessons each Sunday morning or our AWANA program on Wednesday nights, we desire to come alongside parents, to teach the truth found in the Bible.

Everything we do is designed to help children build relationships with their peers, leaders, but most importantly, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We provide many opportunities for these relationships to develop through Sunday Morning programs, AWANA, camps, and special events.  We encourage every child to be involved in all of these activities.

Kid's Connection is back LIVE at 8:40 and 10am Gathering Times

Some things you will need to know:

1. Your child will be in the Kid's Connection class that corresponds to their current grade in school.

2. Temperature checks (at Highland or at home), screening questions and Ministry staff check-in will happen for every child. You may still check in all your children at one time at any check-in area (Preschool or Kids).

3. We will be following the CDC guidelines for children gathering in classrooms. We are asking for your child to wear face masks while attending Kid's Connection.

4.  Distancing between children will be 4'. This distancing creates a safer environment for our children, but unfortunately it also creates limited seating. Class sizes will be limited and will close when maximum capacity has been reached.

5. We will have hand sanitizer in each room and your child will be asked to put on hand sanitizer as they enter and as they leave the room.

6. Leaders will be screened, temperature checked and be wearing a face shield or mask during Kid's Connection.

7. Every room will be sanitized after each Kid's Connection time.

8. God's word will be taught in a fun and exciting way!!!!

Kid's Connection During COVID-19

Highland loves and cares about your family, especially during these unsettling days. Below you will find resources that will help your family navigate through this uncharted season and continue to learn God’s Word together. If you have any questions or would like to be added to our email list, please email Joanie Swingler.

November 22

This week we are learning that after Jesus returned to heaven, the Holy Spirit gave the disciples power to begin working.  With the power of Jesus’ name, Peter healed a man who was lame.  Not even the religious leaders could stop Jesus’ followers from sharing the good news about Jesus.

Kid's Connection is back LIVE at 8:40 and 10 am Gathering Times

Kid's Connection/Connect 56 We believe that families should worship together in one of the Gathering times which meet in the Life Center. Children will gather for a time of learning each Sunday morning on the Children’s Hall for Kid's Connection/Connect 56 at 8:40 or 10 am. We encourage every child to be involved in Kid's Connection/Connect 56.

Kid's Connection (K-4th Grade)

Sundays mornings in the Children’s Hall located on the 3rd floor of the Education Building.

Kid's Connection uses “The Gospel Story for Kids” and "The Gospel Project" curriculums. Children are taught how the Gospel of Jesus Christ weaves through every story in the Bible. These curriculums are a unique, three-year program that helps churches and families ground children in the Gospel story from Genesis to Revelation.  At each age level, children are taught the Gospel through age-appropriate illustrations, activities, coloring pages, object lessons, and memorization. There are weekly family-friendly devotionals that go along with the curriculum which is available for you to use at home.

Connect 56 (5th & 6th Grades)

Sundays in the Children’s Hall located on the 3rd floor of the Education Building.

Connect 56 at 8:40am uses “The Gospel Story for Kids” and "The Gospel Project" curriculums.

Connect 56 at 10am introduces preteens to inductive study where they are taught how to investigate the Scriptures and discover for themselves what it means, apply it to their lives and defend their faith to others.  We want preteens to study the Bible for God’s truth, instead of relying on teachers to tell them what is in the Bible.

Policy & Procedures

We strive to provide a safe environment, both physically and emotionally, for all kids and families. One method is our electronic check-in system used on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Check-in stations enable parents to quickly and easily check-in children, and gives our staff a way to contact parents, if necessary, during the Gatherings. K-6th grade students will need to be checked in and picked up by an approved adult.  A guardian receipt will be printed out at the time of check-in which is required to pick up your child from class.

We also require our leaders to go through a rigorous screening process in order to serve in Highland Kids. If you are interested in being a Highland Kids Leader, please Joanie Swingler.
