“Celebrate Life!” is a new monthly celebratory event. We’ll gather to praise the Lord in song, share current testimonies and prayer requests, and reflect on Scripture together. Tom and Jeanie Johnson will be leading this ministry. If you were at Highland long ago and enjoyed the old “Body Life at Highland” services, you’ll love this!
Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “Let us consider (observe fully, perceive, discover) one another in order to stir up love and good (pleasant, valuable, virtuous, beautiful) works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another (to call near, invite, console, comfort, get alongside, pray), and so much the more (to a greater degree) as you see the Day (day of judgment) approaching.”
Often in our later years, we face sadness and loss; we feel disappointment and some self-pity. We also see God’s strong hand of comfort, healing, and provision in our lives. We need a place and time to share our burdens and pain, joys and victories, and to praise God together.
“Celebrate Life!” will serve to remind us of God’s goodness and kindness. It will help alleviate sadness and elevate a thankful heart. It will likely motivate us to love and good works, and possibly give us fresh vision for serving God. It will also provide a good opportunity for us to meet new people and make friends at Highland.
The Johnsons’ vision is (1) to encourage senior adults to rejoice in the Lord by singing hymns and spiritual songs, (2) to memorize the ABC’s in scripture, and (3) to share testimonies about what God is doing in our lives now. They hope to encourage senior adults to connect with the Lord and with each other.
We meet the second Tuesday of each month through May 8, 2020, from 3-4:30pm in the Education Building (116).
