Our Adult Equipping Ministry seeks to equip members of Highland to be on mission for the good of the church, their neighbors and the world in accordance with Ephesians 4:11-12, “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…” The role of the local church is to equip believers to be ministers of the gospel in word and deed. At Highland, we do this primarily through preaching, teaching and living out God’s Word through gathering together corporately for worship, Adult Bible Fellowships, and Connection Groups.
We encourage all Adults to gather together on campus each Sunday morning for Summer 1 in the Chapel at 10am for an in-depth study of Scripture geared toward prayer and application.
We also encourage Adults to gather together in Connection Groups, meeting throughout the city of Waco during the week. Our Connection Groups include eating together, sharing gospel life with one another and others and praying for one another, our neighbors and the nations.
We believe that every Christian should be growing in their faith. The primary way we provide growing opportunities is through our Adult Bible Fellowships and Connection Groups.
Our Adult Bible Fellowships encourage growth as people of similar life-stage and age gather around Scripture for in-depth and verse-by-verse study. Groups pray together, discuss and apply the Word to their lives. Each semester, all Adult Bible Fellowships study the same book of the Bible. We also offer one or two elective classes that address particular issues such as parenting, marriage, and finances. In addition, there is always a Precepts Bible study offered during both hours. Information regarding all Wednesday night studies, as well as activities for all ages and our Wednesday night meal can be found here.
We believe that every believer in Jesus is to go, living on mission in the name of Jesus for the good of the neighborhood, city and world. The Adult Equipping Ministry orients every study, practice and prayer around Christian mission and the call to “go.”
Adult Bible Fellowships and Connection Groups serve together in their neighborhoods, at the church and around the city according their particular gifting, interests and context.
